Tab Volume Manager Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 13, 2026
Tab Volume Manager is a browser extension for controlling and shaping audio in browser tabs. This policy explains what is processed locally, what is sent to our licensing service when Pro is used, and how Stripe processes purchases.
1. Audio and browsing data
Audio is processed locally inside your browser to provide volume control, effects, equalization, visualization, and Pro audio tools. Audio is not recorded, uploaded, or sent to our servers.
The extension reads limited tab information needed to identify and control the active or audible tab, such as the tab title, website hostname, favicon, and audible state. We do not collect or store your browsing history on our servers.
2. Data stored locally
Volume levels, equalizer settings, presets, theme choice, Pro tool settings, a randomly generated installation identifier, and an activated license key are stored in your browser using the extension storage API. This information is used to restore your settings and operate the extension.
3. Pro licensing data
When you activate or validate Pro, the extension sends the license key, random installation identifier, and extension version to our Cloudflare-hosted licensing service. The service stores cryptographic hashes of license keys and installation identifiers rather than the original values.
For license administration, we also store the purchase email, selected plan, license status, Stripe customer and transaction identifiers, subscription period information, activation timestamps, and the last four license-key characters. This data is used only to provide, secure, and support Pro access.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe may collect payment details, billing information, email address, and fraud-prevention signals under the Stripe Privacy Policy.
5. Service providers and sharing
We use Cloudflare to host the licensing API and database, and Stripe to process payments, subscriptions, refunds, and disputes. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
6. Retention and security
Licensing and transaction records are kept for as long as needed to provide Pro access, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, meet legal or accounting obligations, and support customers. We use encrypted connections, restricted server credentials, signed entitlements, and hashed activation identifiers to protect licensing data.
7. Your choices
You can deactivate an installation from the extension, remove locally stored extension data by uninstalling or clearing extension storage, and manage an active subscription through the Stripe billing portal. For access, correction, or deletion requests, contact us at the address below. Some transaction records may need to be retained where required by law.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when product functionality, service providers, or legal requirements change. The latest version will remain available on this page with a revised effective date.
