For the Mac Sound Manager app
Updated
Mac Sound Manager is a native Mac app by Stefan Mihajlovic. It works without an account and processes audio on your Mac. The app has no analytics, advertising or tracking services.
Your audio stays on your Mac
The app uses macOS audio capture to adjust the volume, equalizer and balance of apps you select. Audio passes through temporary buffers in memory so it can be processed and played back. It is not saved as a recording, uploaded or sent to the developer.
System Audio Recording permission is used for this local processing. The app does not capture microphone input or record your screen.
Apps and saved settings
Mac Sound Manager reads the names, icons and identifiers of running apps and their audio processes to build the mixer and apply your controls. This information stays on your Mac.
Your per-app volume, mute, balance, EQ, selected output-device identifiers and enabled state are saved locally, along with named EQ presets, master power and menu-bar and Dock preferences. App identifiers associate each saved setting with the right app. These preferences are not uploaded or synced by Mac Sound Manager.
You’re in control
You can change settings and delete saved EQ presets in the app. Bypassing a channel stops its processing while keeping its settings. Quitting stops all audio capture; closing the window leaves the mixer running.
You can revoke audio-capture permission in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security and turn off Launch at login in the app’s settings. Locally saved preferences can remain after you remove the app. Contact us if you need help clearing them.
Downloads and support
This policy describes the Mac app. Visiting the website or downloading a release creates a normal web request, which can include your IP address and browser information. Downloads and public issue reports are hosted on GitHub and are subject to GitHub’s privacy statement.
If you contact us, we receive the contact details and message you choose to send so we can respond. Public GitHub issues are visible to others; use email for private questions and avoid including private audio or other sensitive content.
